SONAR Help Needed.

First of all, I'd like to say that this is my first time at HRC and I've spent the last 2 hours in front of this computer instead of staining decks, which is what I should be doing. In other words this site is the greatest thing ever...Hats off.
I need some help, I'm having trouble with vocals. My recordings come out great, I have a condenser mic, into a mixer, compressor, then MOTU interface onto sonar 2.1. My problem is getting the vocals "into the mix" as it were. Does anyone have suggestions as far as EQ settings, Reverbs, delays etc. that I could apply in Sonar to help with this, or should I be looking for a new piece of equipment?
Any input would be very much appreciated.

Argh, tough question. The subject of sinking vocals into the mix is brought up quite often.

Personally, I like to add a touch of reverb to help sink it back a little bit, EQing can help, but any specific setting would surely depend on the singers voice.

I will send out a little teaser here...starting Saturday a few selected HRC members will begin beta testing a plugin to do exact this, pull a sound back, being calculated by the Fletcher-Munson curve...I am expecting it to be a time/life saver in these situation.

That said tho, until then, I would say just play with some reverb that has predelay controls and just mess around...what can also help is the room your record your vocals in, having some natural ambience in the recording from the start would be nice too.

Welcome to HRC, glad you like it so far.
