Hey, I'm new to the forum and I'd like to introduce my self. I'm Scott the metal guitarist from Indianapolis. I have a 24 track home studio. My CD Recorder quit reading discs. I just bought a Behringer MX-9000 recording console, so I don't have the funds to shell out for a MasterLink yet. I have no PC recording experience. I'd like to know what I would need to use my PC Hard Drive for editing, then burning to CD (I have Nero Express). What kind of cables, software, sound cards, etc do i need? Could I run in and out of the mixer thru the tape jacks, then in and out of the pc thru the mic in and audio out jacks?

Are you wanting to just record the whole mix in one files and edit that or would your rather record each instument indiviually and edit that?

Yeh, I would just like to edit the 2 track mix. I'm recording to 3 MDM's, so I can edit individual tracks on those machines for right now. I basically just need to mixdown to 2 tracks utilizing my PC as a 2 track master recorder. Then I want to be able to edit start ID's and that kind of thing.

Hmmm, didn't notice that this thread got pushed aside, sorry about that, but seriously, you could have done a simple search on any recording forum and found the answers as this same question gets asked like a billion times and people are sick of answering it as the answers are all out there, so there is no needs to be condesending:

I think its fair to say this forum has been manic lately and very busy but generally, folks will get back to ya - in fact, if it wasn't for this place, I'd still be recording crap on a stock soundcard with 300000 secs of latency.

I guess Im glad I didnt find any of those other forums, as the ones I found generally mocked the beginner and in my case, advised without pro-tools and £30000 I'd never record anything worth its salt. Still, each to their own.

Cheers...

Coco.
