I just finished recording, mixing, and mastering my latest composition called, "Nobody's Girl". Another country song...written for all the party girls who are looking for something else.

www.homerecordingconnecti...sic&id=1347

The drums and bass are computerized - actually I used Band-in-a-Box to sequence them :-() The rest is me, except for the harmony vocals, which were laid down by fellow Cutaway Marv.

I'd be interested in your comments regarding overall sound of the song, and of course any ideas for improving it!

Thanks!

Jim

Pretty good mix, decent sound, tho the guitar sounds thin, which is intentional in country sometimes. Sometimes the vocals seem to overpower everything else, but as a whole, good recording and mixing.

Oh, and I went to the Vikings/Kansas City scrimmage...you Packers better start shaking, Brock Lesner looks like he may end up being a pretty darn good defensive lineman in a year or two...I watched him pushing around 2 and sometimes 3 first string o-lineman from KC and toss a coupel around like ragdolls...very impressive.

Good luck this season :-) Might be a good one!

Twang on Jim - take it you used the Fender! Canny whack it wi a big stick - fantastic!!

I like this song. I tell ya, its quite infectious and for computerised drums & bass, they sound good to me which is often not the case.

Good guitar playing, nice harmony and a good song overall. Nice work here.

If I was looking to alter anything, I'd maybe say the drums could be louder for ma ears but as I always say, I like rock music where drums drive the song. So, its most probs me. The actual beat is good, real good and fits the song, so its ma rock tainted lugs again maybe.

Cant really find any REAL faults here tho. Darn good song and another one for me to go off and listen to again!

Gid work.

Hey Jim, nice song. Drums and Bass sound really good, they don't sound programmed nice job there. I thought the guitar sounded just right for the sytle and the song, even my wife made a comment as she was walking by the room that the guitar sounded good :) Nice job all around, vocals and harmonies!

Thanks, folks, for the input. Tonight the guys in the band are coming over to record this song, I'll be anxious to see how it turns out.

dB: The Pioneer Press made it sound like the scrimmage was more like a brawl than a football game! We'll see what happens this year...whatever happens, I can't wait!

Yeah, there were a couple of brawls. Scrimmages are kinda tough, you are told not to hit hard, but then when you don't hit hard the guy with the ball runs to the endzone and does his little dance, asking to be hit harder next time...it's kinda hard to play the sport without much hitting...but then, well, the Pioneer Press is a lame paper anyway...they are good at sensationalizing things.
