Im starting to record my drums using a click track to get perfect timing (almost). But im having difficulty actually hearing the track through the headphones. (Ive got the AKG K 271 headphones if that helps) I turn the volume on the click track right up but th drums just overpower it, any suggestions please

Jul 23, 2004 12:22 pm What do you use to get the click track? Normally, lets say in Sonar, you can control the volume of the click so you can hear it.

Jul 23, 2004 01:11 pm using a meternome (any kind, that it be actual or on computer) is REALLY tough. You won't be able to hear the "clicks" because the drums are too loud and the click is a single note...best method?
I'd say replicate the drums using a Drum machine or fruity loops. That will not only help visualize the drums your playing, but identify each part. when I say replicate, I don't literally mean replicate it...i mean keep the timing as you want it, with simple hit-hat, bass drums and snare (i.e. 4/4 basic drum beat)
OR
have a track or two from the song playing in the backround, and play along to it.
Does that help explain? It helps me record in the past.

Jul 24, 2004 12:54 am I use Vic Firth isolation headphones in my drum teaching studio - they block out the room sound very well and have a direct line in so you can hear the click - actually at a fairly low volume - over the drums. There's another brand out there but I can't remember the name off hand, check your local drumshop or www.2112percussion.com . Or, the cheaper version, get some "ear bud" style earphones (the kind that go right in your ear) and a pair of shooters earmuffs - same idea, just not as pretty.
Sorry for the long answer, but I hope it helps
