Recently I've been recording vocals with a dynamic mic and it doesnt capture enough of the ambience I want. Can any of you suggest some cheap condenser mics that I could purchase?.

Jun 22, 2004 04:20 am ok, SE electronics make something called the SE1A which is a small diaphragm condensor for £69 ( www.sonic-distribution.com ), got some good reviews.
the samson one ( www.soundtech.co.uk/samson/co1.htm ) looks pretty good and im gonna try one of them myself when funds allow...
hope this is of some help!
Jun 22, 2004 04:36 am I was possibly thinking about this www.venuemusic.com.au/Products.asp?ProdID=651 one.
It works out at about 75 pounds. Can anyone tell me anything about if they have used it before or looking at the specs.
Can someone give me a bit of backround on the difference between small and large diaphragms?, Does a large diagphragm give better detail and more sensitivity?.
Thanks

Jun 22, 2004 09:41 am I have one. For the money it is great, especially when you consider its almost the only one in that price range with patterns, plus the pad and rolloff. It has a good high boost for the vocal ambience you need. Plus its built like a tank!! Man, the shock mount is worth about 40 bucks itself......

Jun 22, 2004 09:57 am I have a Studio Projects B3, which offers omni, cardiod, and figure 8. Also offers -10db pad, and low cut. I got mine for 160$us shipped, with the shockmount. I haven't used it for much more than small jobs yet, but am impressed so far.
