cooledit problem! ack! channel recording all messed up!

I don't know what happened but between today and yesterday my Cooledit messed up. When I try recording off a mic or even my bass, the right channel is the only one that gets sound!

It used to be uniform, stereo, both speakers equally! I hate this! Please help! I've used Windows volume properties, set my creative soundcard options back to default....i've tried everything it seems!

again, the situation:

--when i record, the sound only gets put on the right speaker.

--with any OTHER program, there's no problem! which means that its not a wire-problem!

--i reinstalled cooledit! what should i do!

In multitrack mode, there is a little button with an R on it, to the left of each track. When you click on it, it will open a box that allows you to set recording properties for that particular track. Click on stereo, or left channel if you want mono and there is also a "same for all tracks option".

Hope that helps. Oh, and welcome to HRC.

for some reason....although i'd been through the REC option window before, its NOW working perfectly again. The problem is that I don't know what exactly triggered the change---perhaps me playing with FX the other day did it.

But anyways, checking "same for all tracks" did it. Thanks!

And thanks for the greeting, I'm glad to be apart of this helpful place!

By the way--is there any place on the web that's good for uploading my material? soundclick is shady cause they have some weird rights to our music.

I've done it with Yahoo Groups before (creating a group and then storing my mp3s with the 20 MB they give you) but sometimes they are funny about blocking people from your site, I've found. That's even if you remove all the members-only security, too. I don't know of any other good free places, sorry.

Welcome to HRC! You know... you get 12 free MB of space at HRC if you choose to go pro. Something to consider, maybe. :)
