Jun 17, 2004 09:45 am Yeah, I read about it...I mean, really didn't we ALL know that was going to happen at some point. They are going to get PDA's, phones and anything else connected to a network...

Jun 17, 2004 12:08 pm argghhh, cant get in it...im not an aol member.
however, i work in a phone shop, and this is a problem we get a couple of times a week every week. in short, if your phone is java (check the manual - it basically eans you can download extra programmes for it) then you can be at risk. the virus, in my experience, can do something as simple as install pop up adverts, crash the phnoe, right throught to alowing people to monitor your calls and divert your outgoings to a premium rate number - so the phone appears fine, but is going via i high cost ine first, hence big bills.
most of these are easily resolved by using the inbuilt 'factory resetr' or similar features, but you can often lose your numbres that way, so be careful...

Jun 18, 2004 01:24 pm top man, ta!
funny how they reckon its the first...we have loads of issues with stuff like that, though it may well be the first to spread itself...
the one they mention, the nokia 6600 is what ive got, and see how it could spread, but itd be fairly obvious if someone was sending it...
