Newbie question here. How exactly does one plugin a plugin? What do you do to import them into your music applications? I've just been using the stock effects with CEP. I'd like to check out the range of what's available. Thanks.

I can't speak specifically for CEP, but any other app I have used (which is many) all the plugin effects work just like the bundled ones, in the same menus, sometimes the main list has all the bundled effects, and then submenus for VST and DirectX plugins.

Should be very much the same process. Most, but not all) app make their bundled effects VST's or DirectX plugins so they will work in other apps as well. MultitrackStudio is the only app I can think of that doesn't...which is a shame cuz some of MTS's effects kick butt.

Hopefully a CEP user will pop in and verify that I am not too far off-base here...

Once you install the plug-in it should pop-up in all your menus.

tincan, as far as I know, CEP uses DX plugins, and doesn't use VST plugins at all. So in order to use VST plugins, you'll have to find a program that supports them. But if you find some DX plugins you want to try and utilize in CEP, basically what you have to do is install them (you'll probably have to point to CEP in the installation process), and then under effects in CEP there is an option to update effects. Click that, and thereafter you will have the option to use the plugins under the Direct X option. Once you use them, they operate right in CEP just like the ones that come bundled with CEP.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your responses. I'm not really sure how to install these plugins, but I assume that there will be some brief instructions on the site where I'd find them anyway.

I hope you guys are having a good weekend wherever you may be... it finally dried out in Chicago and the weather's great this weekend!

plugins are generally installed like any other application, with a simple install wizard...for cheap/free ones it may just be a DLL file that is copied into your registered VST folder which may reside in your CEP install directory...
