I currently have a WD 120gig 72000rpm hdd. I need to have another one to my PC for audio only. The problem is I'm not quite sure how to configure it with the IDE connections for best use. I really appreciate any and all thoughts on this!
AMD 2500xp/windows xp/abit nf7-s(MB) and 1gig RAM
Existing IDE set up:
Primary IDE:(MASTER) 120gig 72000 WD hdd.
Secondary IDE:(MASTER) dvd player/cd burner
: (SLAVE) cd-ROM drive
thanks
Chris

May 28, 2004 11:09 am set it up as the slave on your primary bus...
Actually, I'd make the second hard drive secandary master and move DVD to primary slave.

May 28, 2004 10:05 pm Do yourself a favor and spend $25.00 on a pull out tray for the thing. They fill up fast. Easy way to keep your music stored and organized!

Second HD master
CDRom slave
Personally, I am hip on Walt idea of the secondary drive being in a pullout bay...that comes in really handy sometimes!

Jun 05, 2004 09:30 pm I third the motion for removable drive bays. I should though seeing as I use 3 of them. After awhile you may find yourself running out of space and needing to swap out a drive or add more. I have been using swap bays for over 6 years now and love the things. It really is a handy little item. Only word of caution is to make sure you buy a bay with a cooling fan in the back end of it, and make sure you can get the pull outs without having to buy an entire new bay. Some of them dont sell the drawers without the dock.

Got a seagate 120gig/7200 ata 100 drive-nice n quiet for the second(Audio Drive).
latency has improved trmendously! I highly suggest a 2nd drive. I can see how a removable drive bays can be necessary...
One question though. I didn't partition the new drive, well actually it's one big partition..Does that reall make much of a difference??
