Ok. So I need to get me some asio drivers to run the Tascam US-122 with cool edit. Should these be included with my installation disk or do I have to look around?

Will these do? Does anyone know where I can find something for free?

Also does anyone know what wave mapper in cool edit is? Is this an asio driver?

The drivers is from the manufacturer. Someone has hacked and made ASIO dreivers for some SoundBlaster devices, but this is not the norm, they should come right from Tascam for your device.

That thing you linked to is interesting, it seems a bit too generic...

WaveMapper is a general Windows setting that tells you application to use the default windows audio device as chosen in the Windows Control Panel. Never use that setting.

I am having a bit of problems with this. Once I install the drivers it should come up automatically right? The only other option to wave mapper says USB-122 In - A/B (or something like that). But I am not sure if this would be considered an ASIO driver or a standard one.

You do not need the link above, based on the tascam product page www.tascam.com/product_info.php?pid=253 it comes packaged with ASIO drivers.

In any application I have used that supports ASIO it says ASIO in the driver option and WDM say WDM in the driver option...if yours says neither I tend to believe it's just plain ol' MME yucky drivers.

Go to www.tascam.com/downloads.php?pid=253 and download the newest drivers for your OS.
