Using amplitube with cubase sx 2

i wanted to use amplitube in my cubase setup and so i consulted the manual - it didn't say anything about how to use it on a pc with cubase sx.
Since im not a complete newbie i've gotten so far as to use it as a plugin but i want to hear it while i play.
I know i got the hardware to do it (P4 2,6 ,1024 RAM, M-audio delta 1010 LT) it's just down to me not figuring it all out. The manual say somethin about making sure that the input is mono, is this the important thing im missing out on ,or is it all about bouncing ( something i dont master)?

....if i could afford a bloody mac G5 id buy one in an instant.

I use the same set up as yerself...Cbase SX and Amplitube - beats Mic'in my Marshall for convenience!!

This may sound obvious but have you enabled the monitoring within Cubase? If you dont enable the monitoring you wont hear the plugin as you play...

Also, do you hear the plugin when you play the track back? If not, you may not have activated the plugin itself within that track.

Have a wee check of this and see if its any of these before you get to stressed!! As for buying a mac - maybe a wee bity extreme :-)!

Goodluck...

The monitor buttom has - until now- meant nothing to me i havn't really neede to use it or understood what it's for. I know wich one it is tough... When one of my friends was looking in to it he was trying to do something with the monitoring but he was used to cubase vst i think.( And he had gone from gothenburg to here, somewhat close to stockholm,((it's quite far)) just to go to a party so he wasn't in the mood to figure out the details of my cubase...)

I'm going to look in to what the manual sais about monitoring - i do here a "ampish" sound when i press it (on a amplitubed channel) so it might very well be that this is the problem.

...and i DO here amplitube on playback. i didn't mind the problem until i was recording some manowar-pastich for my friends birthday and realised how difficult tapping is without distortion

well seems i have a new problem now. it MIGHT be i get to big of a sound when using amplitube since i now tested using an unmisstakble sound (nasty chorus with steve vai-distortion something i wouldnt use normally i'll tell ya) and than hit the monitorbutton.
What happens is -i get like one of thoose turn-on-your-amp-thumps and a short hiss (with chorus and reverb) that has to be amplitube that instantly silences itself and from time to time while doing this my hardware mutes the inputchannel.

i have to big sound and some kind of soundsafety kicks in?

I had a similar problem to the one you describe.

I found it only happened when I had amplitube running on more than 1 track - the vsti must have been overloading my system!!

I have 768MB RAM and a 2.2 Celeron so its no bad but no top of the range either...

I dont know if this is whats givin you the problem but you may want to take off any other tracks with amplitube on and also take off any other vst's til you get the geetar done!

Again, gidluck!

THAT ...has been a problem for me but it's not it im sad to say. A friend of mine(a freakin bastard when it comes to computers he re-write programs when they dont work hi's way) sais thats it's possible to come around that problem by copying the amplitube dll and renaming it. So the system doesn't consider it to apps of the same program but as two different ones. According to him it wasn't a problem of cpu-usage - i've never gotten around to trying it yet - But my system (wich HAS the power to run two amplitubes since it's still new (hate the pc-evolution)) has the sam problem with having amplitube on different tracks.
my problem is still with monitoring and possibly my soundcard. ...i allways let this get to me i dont know why i've been recording lo-fi before and all. idea? any one?

Hello All,
This is bongo 38 and I am new to this forum.

I too am using Cubase SX2 (just upgraded from SX) and Amplitube and I too am having the same problems with trying to hear the effected sound while I record with Amplitube.

I read the suggestion "cocofromscotland" made (Using Amplitube with Cubase SX 2) about the monitoring button, and everything else but this hasn't solved the problem for me? Actually I can't hear any effect I insert when recording? I've tried everything and I'm getting really fustrated.I would greatly appreciate any help or tips.
Thanx in advance!

peace,

Just a thought...you are adding this as an "Insert Effect" i.e. the pannel on the left which is applicable to the whole channel?

I'm not sure if you are adding as a send/return effect and I've never really used that function but it may be that??

Also, ensure the effect is active i.e. the button at the top left of the effect is blue stating the effect is on.

This may be obvious but always best to eliminate such tings first!

Good luck.

Yes I do have Ampitube as an Insert Effect in the pannel on the left, and the blue light is on. Actually I've tried putting it as a send/return but that didn't work either.

If it helps: I'm using the M-Audio Delta 1010LT soundcard. Could I be doing something wrong in that area? It records fine though?

Yes the plot thickens...
Thank you for the help so far, there's got to be a way to do this...

bongoboy i got it....
i figured it out while looking in to my setup of busses and direct monitoring. So while reading the manual about direct monitoring (which i think is auto-enabled when you install the program if you have hardware that suports it i.e our: delta 1010s) i saw that automonitoring was what stopped me from hering the effects in realtime during playing (but not playback recording).

i havn't tried this with ambplitube yet - but i have tried it with my demo of native instruments guitar rig (which kicks *** by the way) and it worked perfectly.

Disable direct-monitoring by: goint to devices> device setup>VST multitrack and unchech the box for it.

good luck if you ever read this that is. it was a while ago....
