What the heck is that sound?!?

I'm using Cubase SX, and when I use any vst plugins, such as amplitube. I get a weird static ticking sound every couple seconds regardless if the project is playing or not. Does anyone know what it is, and how to fix it? I thought it wouldn't show up in the mixdown, but it does...

Drivers Drivers Drivers. (Thats my first guess) if you dont hear it at anyother time, drivers are the first place to go...
You dont have anything listed in your profile so i dont know what card (s) youre using, or system specs, so my answer is drivers.

it would be helpful if you would fill out your gear profile so we have a reference as to what you are using. As a rule, I agree with Tony, first thing is to make sure you have the latest driver revisions for your sound card...and any other component too for that matter.

can you explain it a bit more? what do you mean 'regardless if the project's playing or not'?

i have heard this ticking sound too. maybe. if it's the same thing, i have found ways to make it go away.

I know I'm going to need to dodge slaps, but I'm using an Audigy 2. I bought it before I knew any better. The sound is only when Amplitube is active (even when the playback is stopped). So Amplitube seems to be the problem. Thanks for the help! Also, what's the best way to get an accurate mixdown and conversion to Mp3. The conversion from Cubase sounds totally different.

hmmm, odd, maybe audigy and amplitube don't play well together, it would be unusual, but I am more likely to blame stuff on SoundDisaster than I am anything else ;-)

I git it! I forgot to register my Amplitube, so it was still running in Demo mode. That was the problem. Sorry for wasting time....

Still, a solution is a solution!
