Irritating background noise

Hi, i'm pretty new to all this recording on pc, but after i saw the advatages, i thought it was worth it to give it a shot.

Things are going well (although my pc ins'nt good enough for the program i'm working with; adobe audition), but for one or the other reason, even if i mute all recording inputs (wav, mic, line in...), a noise is recorded. It goes like sssshhhhhttttt, in case you realy have to know :)

Is this a common problem and does anyone know how to deal with it?
