can someone help me. im trying to record some vocals seperately on track 2 whilst playing the backing track on track 1. the trouble is that the backing track records itself on the vocal track. im running w2k and m audio audiophile 2496 sound card. any ideas out there?

May 09, 2004 12:18 am I've never used cakewalk pro audio 9, but if its anything like Adobe Audition (or cool edit), you have to select track 2 to record before recording. Once the "Record" is highlighted and you record, everything should record onto track 2. It is a multi track program right?

I had this problem turned out I had my outs going from my main outs instead of my sub outs

May 09, 2004 06:06 am like the man said above, and unless it's got something to do with getting your audio inputs mixed up somehow, what you gotta do is 'disarm' track one from recording (hit the 'R' button so it's not highlighted red, and then 'arm' track two, so the R is highlighted red. cakewalk always records on to the tracks that are armed, either one or many tracks, so select the right one and you're away.

May 09, 2004 08:51 am Fill out your profile, then wait for Db or noise to show up. Thats what i do...... I would answer but havent used cakewalk for 3 years. dont remember the interface.

May 09, 2004 09:19 am Yup, it's a routing problem...and very common too...you just need to follow your signals thru the chain and figure out where they cross, they are both entering the sound card at some point.
It has nothing to do with Cakewalk, it's before the sound even hits the card.
