I went in with my friends band to a proper studio not too long ago (that article is coming up) One thing I noticed that was interesting to me was that whle tracking the engineer would mute or solo tracks... so if you hit solo on the desk while tracking the signal is still going to tape but that sound is just not going out the monitors or what? I never thought about hiting mute or solo while tracking... if I am running sonar and tracking guitar and vox and bass and want to only hear the bass through the cans as I'm tracking can I just solo that track and have it still be recorded? I'm confused

Apr 10, 2004 11:31 pm i dont use a computer to record so i cant be positive but....on my board soloing only effects the signal going to the monitor/control out so the fact that i only hear guitar or vocals does not effect the recording(which is all direct out and sub out
software is based on the real deal so it should work.
try it and find out

Apr 11, 2004 12:43 am okey, so the solo/mutes only affect the monitor out signals? That's cool, so that I can have the band hearing everything through the cans and/or monitors in the live room and then in the control room I can solo the track/s I want to hear at that time and it won't be effecting the signal at all...
Apr 11, 2004 01:13 am If the track in sonar is armmed and is recording you can solo whatever youd like while recording and the signal you are recording will not be affected. At least it works with my setup. IM sure you can figure it out. trial and error my friend!

Apr 11, 2004 12:29 pm yeah it makes sense, just not something I'd ever thought about.
