Now add your studio gear list to your personal profile!

To help us all understand each other, and the gear we are using, I have added a "gear profile" to each persons personal profile. It is not required but when we start discussing what works for us and what doesn't, each of seeing what we are using, rather than always having to retype it every time we are asked, I have added a field to each persons profile to list our studio gear...

Use it if ya want, don't if you don't want to, but it is there if ya want to...

Also, the image uploader should be working as well, so upload a mug of yourself, your studio or anything that is family-friendly...

Would anyone groove on the idea of private messaging between members? Or would it take away from the spirit of the forum by making more useful info private and our public forum suffering from it?

Thoughts...

One reason I've kept coming back to this site is becuase of the "Classroom" type setting... everyone learning from one another. I think that messaging would take away from this, but thats just my opinion

Tough question, I like the idea of it, especially when there is someone who maybe has been helping you with somethin in particular, and they don't realize that you have posted something. I think that being able to receive an email that a follow-up has been posted to your question would work in its place. Just me, but I think that Charlie is right, if people start doing private conversation then all of us lose out maybe.

just putting my 2 cents in Db. but i think that it is great how it is setup already, where everyone can post. i like coming back to read what everyone has to say. also keep in mind that if you offered that personal messaging, your MAILBOX WOULD BE FLOODED!! :)

thanks guys, I think I will shelf the idea for now...I personally agree with your sentiments that it would be counter productive, but it is part of many communities, so I figured I would ask...

I will spend that time in setting up an email alert function for posts instead so we can "subscribe" to threads...though Noize and I don't need it since we get them all anyway :-)

As far as stupe's comment goes about my mailbox...well, I already planned for that by adding in a way to disable PM's...I disable PM's in every forum I belong to cuz I hate them, but many like them...

So, again, thanks for the input, everyone else can post there opinions, I would like to hear them, but unless there is a very compelling argument for them, I will not work on implementing them in favor of working on things more productive.

Just FYI, the email alert will take some work, so it won't be impleneted as fast as the gear profile was, which took me 10 minutes from the time I started working on it :-)

I think most of us have our e-mail'a available, and some of us have our ICQ and IM stuff posted. so if it were necessary to notify someone, I think we have the mean's to do so for the most part.

dB, do you remember the chat room attempt a couple year's ago, no one was there except you and I.

I love this forum just the way it is because I get so many opinions to look at and learn so much more this way. As for the gear, I'm waiting on an anuuity check to get to me and then I'm going to invest some more in my basic beginner set-up. I hope ya'll don't mind me asking questions about particular brands as start doing my shopping. I posted a question about a Behringer pre-amp,compressor,etc. and the post is not there. I didn't know if it was accidental or ya'll didn't want to get into reccommending brands. Either way, I love this forum and when I get my new gear I will be adding it to my profile. Thanks again for the time you put into this.

OK, Tim, I fixed you topic and just added a topic title to it of "Live Recording Signal Routing" I can change it if you wish...

Also, FYI for the rest of you, I changed the subscribe layout to be on the thread page, not the reply page so you don't have to post a thread to subscribe or unsubscribe...the better idea I think.

Oh, ya, the unsubscribe works now too...i think...time will tell

Oh, ya, and Tim, we will gladly talk brands...if we don't like it or do like it, everyone here will surely express it, don't worry about it, ask anything about music (or religion and the existance of aliens now too I guess:-)
