Some website has jacked my homepage. I can manually change it back, but it doesn't help. I have erased all cookies and reset the history, but nothing seems to work. I know this isn't recording related, but does anyone have any ideas?

What's your home page? Where do you host? Have you contact support? They my have been hacked and have a few defacement report.

Spywareinfo.com is getting hammer on the last 3 or 4 days it's been almost unreachable because of DOS attacks and stuff...it sounds as though your server has been comprimised.

I had the same thing happen to me a while back. Amazon.com was constantly popping up. Removed it with a spyware removal app.

no, not my website, but rather my homepage preference in explorer. I used to set it at yahoo, but now it's some other nonsense, and I can't get rid of it.

oh, heck, that is an easy jacking, it takes like 1 line of javascript to do that. Go get adaware and run it to get rid of whatever jacked it, then reset the prefence, no biggy, easy to clear up.

EVERYONE should have adaware installed on any PC on the internet, it's free and it rocks!

hmmm, maybe this post will help some people out.

Windows XP install checklist.

1. Zone Alarm Free Edition :: www.zonelabs.com/store/co...lid=zadb_zadown
Free Firewall which will protect your pc from spyware, hackers, DoS attacks and all manner of other nasty crap that floats around the internet.

2. Grisoft AvG Free Edition :: www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php
Free AntiVirus software - if you don't have a virus checker you are a fool imho. This one stays current with free automatic updates.

3. Mozilla FireFox Web Browser :: www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
Microsoft Internet Explorer is full of holes, hell, people can do far worse than jack your start page! FireFox is not only a rock solid browser with some great features, it is also far removed from the local operating system, thus, the potential of attack is far lessened.

4. Lavasoft Ad-Aware Standard :: www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
Free Anti-Spyware utility which detects and remove malicious programs that manage to slip through all the software above - run it everynow and again to keep everything running smoothly.

Hopefully some of you may find that list useful, enjoy.

Sygate's free firewall is a bit better www.sygate.com/ than according to a couple of comparison studies (though ZoneAlarm totally has the mind-share) and I have used both, I have found Syagte a bit easier to configure for less tech-savvy users and ZoneAlarm has an odd bug with email programs that I have seen on about 50% of the systems it is installed on...it just basically keep stopping the client from getting the email regardless of what you set up in config.

I wholey back AVG anti-virus and use it myself on systems that I actually have an AV on. and the Ad-Aware rocks as well.

Yep, I switched form ZoneAlarm to Sygate and love it. It knocks down everything and is a bit easier to config. I did have the email prob dB talked about as well and couldnt do anything about it, switched to Sygate and viola it was fixed.

I don't know what the hell happened, but I just decided to reinstall windows. I'm going to take jues's suggestions now.
