Questions that come to mind...

A couple of questions have come to my mind after checking out my new stuff... so here we go.

1. What is Phantom Power ? Why/When do you use it ?

2. On the compressor... "overeasy" ? "bypass" ?

3. Is Cakewalk 8 okay to work with ? (already had it when I recorded on my SB sound card)

Thanks a lot folks,
Raph

1.phantom power basically supplies voltage from the board/preamp back to things like a mic or something that requires phantom power. i have a rode NT2 mic that requires phantom power, it ran about $400 and sounds incredible.

2. i am not 100% but by pressing bypass, it should circumvent (or bypass) the compressor's effects on the signal.

3. about cakewalk 8: if it ain't broke... well you know what i mean. if it works for you then by all means keep using it. hell, i use vegas video and people think i'm crazy sometimes... until they hear my demos. but if money ain't no thang, and cakewalk is your choice then pick up Sonar. i'll get some bad feedback on this but... it's basically cakewalk 10.

Overeasy is a softer, slower reacting compresion. It is much more subtle, then hardknee compresion.

Yes, you should be OK with CakeWalk 8. But as el musico said, when the chance arrise's you should upgrade to Sonar XL. It is a very complete package, with much greater power then 8.

Bypass is just that, bypass the processor.

And Phantom power is for condensor mic's that need voltage to run their internal cirquit's.
