If anyone remembers producer teddy riley,
can you tell me what method he used for his
vocal synth effects? and can the orange vocoder
be used in this way?

Aug 28, 2002 10:24 am as far as the plugin in general.. its pretty cool. im not familiar with the particular usage you mentioned.
the only way to really get this plugin to work is if you have a midi controller.

Aug 28, 2002 09:11 pm Well, if I am not mistaken. He used an old Roland Vocoder, that was simaler to what Allen Parson's used very often. That would be avintage piece of gear now. I had one for awhile when they first came out. It had the mic input built right into it, and you could just plug your mic into the goose neck right on the keyboard.
I am not sure, but I believe there are some synth maker's out there now who are includuing that feature on their synth's these day's. It seems to be a popular effect ocne again.
You can also get a very tweaky sound out of an Antares AutoTune, simaler to the Cher tune Believe, by cranking the effect all the way up.
As far as the Orange Vocoder goes, yes you would definately want a midi controller to make that plug work to it's fullest.
