alright this mic is cheap as dirt, but what I want to know is for the price is it worth getting or should I use the money on something else? I have another MXL mic which I like but have nothing to pit it against sound wsie, save for a senheiser dynamic mic

While I don't have it, I have been reading a lot lately on the Studio projects B1. Its around $75 and supposedly sounds great. I would take a look.

yeah I've also been looking into the studio projects and some other mics. I had MXL V63M which I use regularly and it sounds okey to me, but I often have to eq it to get what I feel to be a good sound from it.

The MXL line is pretty good for the money, but I have seen a couple of reads on their frequancy response and it appears that they do not have a nice smooth response curve. It seems as though there are dips in it at certain frequancies and that may be what s causing the probs for you. I dont know much about the B! except that it is getting rave reviews from some stiff types who might never have tried them if they werent getting paid to do so. They had a fair response curve with few dropped areas.
