You know, the thread replies by myself, dB and TC Bug are suspiciously prompt...it's almost as if we're sitting here constantly clicking "refresh" or something. Oh, wait, I am. :-D

Get back to work! :-D

I'm actually a chatbot AI script written by the admins. No, seriously, I have a desk job where I'm at my computer literally from 7:15 am to 4pm, and I answer calls and emails. No calls, no emails? Then I post. :) Luckily my computer has speakers so I can listen to music here, or I'd go nuts sometimes.

hehe, i have a desk job too. I should be doing something more productive (like actually writing code or designing something) but the spirit of the season has robbed me of all motivation to do actual work.

Myself and Noize get emails every time someone posts so I know very quickly, and I as well, have a desk job (building web site, surprise, huh?), so when I get an email I check it out.

Noize, on the other hand checks every couple of days or so, so when he does his inbox is usually VERY full.

Oh no! I'm sending alerts to you every time I post? God, you must hate us by now :)

TCBug: aha! a chat bot! I knew it. I think that Professor Frink said it best:

Frink: (gasps) Why it's the AT-5000 Auto-Dialer! My very first patent. Aw, would you listen to the gibberish they've got you saying it's sad and alarming? You were designed to alert schoolchildren about snow days and such. Well, let's get you home to Frinky. Hope your wheels still work.

You might be surprised the things I built this site to tell me and tracks about the goings-on...

ok, fess up - how many videotapes do you have full? :) I think we're up to about 30, but some only have 4-5 episodes, and some are Futurama and Family Guy. It's a Simpsons DVD Xmas this year for me... hahaha

Simpsons: "We... are... watching... FOX..."

db - After that statement, my future visits to this site will be made wearing an aluminum foil hat. I knew you were poking around in there!

heck, you didn't have to tell, me, I'd know :-)

After PHP added that detect_headgear("aluminum") function, it's all childs play from there...

I don't have a desk job, so I'm limited to about 10 minutes in the morning before I leave for work, then a few minutes at lunch time I usually check out what's happening here. That's why most of my posts are late at night, after I'm home, spend time with my better half, and do chores <G> :)

Well I've got the Cloak of IP invisablity that gives me a +1d6 to my intelligence, Also using the Virus Scanner/Deleter of Illwegard, which does 4d10 to viruses with an AC of 6 or below and modifies my THAC.0 to 4....

Weeeeeellllllll, your cloak appears to be broken, maybe it needs to be recharged :-)

From what I see your IP resolves as a RoadRunner ISP ;-)

"Not only are we gearheads and tech geeks... we're D&D geeks"

Hey, I resemble that remark. I feel the foreboding chill of the inevitable request to begin a MUD on HRC... I still have flashbacks from the brutal, sleepless nights of gaming back in my teen years... 5 guys clustered around a kitchen table cluttered with papers and dice... big drum of Bugler tobacco and papers orbited by half-empty pop bottles... taking an hour to decide what happens in 10 minutes of game-time... guys with 50th level characters - "seriously, I earned those experience points gaming with another DM... and I ROLLED those 18's in my stats, really I did! Did I mention my character is half-dragon, is a demi-god, and rules the barony of whogivesaf*ck?"

There's a guy in my area who's a way bigger geek than I ever was... I've seen him on 294 occasionally... driving this tiny car with elven lettering from Lord of the Rings painted onto the sides of his car... Last time I saw him, the car was packed with about 4 guys, and I swear the guy in the passenger seat was holding a notebook and rolling dice...

hehehe, ah that takes me back...

The best character I ever had, that was honestly achieved thru months of serious campaigning was a 9th level Monk that absolutely kicked butt.

I think I still have his character sheet somewhere in my boxes o' stuff...

It's ironic that these comments about the world's most time consuming game should find their way into a post title "too much time on my hands"... :)

I played the 1st/2nd editions... I never even heard of THACO until I had hung up my sword... hahaha

THACO was introduced in 2nd Ed I believe. And trust me Tincanbug... you're nowhere near as geeky as I. You know what I do on the weekends? I dress up in funny clothes and armour and do a live action midevil roleplaying/combat game. That's pretty damn geeky.

Must have been after my time in the game, I never heard of it until much later. I had some first edition books and a few 2nd... they never mentioned it.

Yeah, I go to the Rennaisance Faire every year with my wife, but you, sir, take the cake! :) Sounds like a lot of fun, actually.

And as far as bumming on all the email. I count on seeing it when I get home from work. I usually try and get to all the Pro and Internal stuff the same day. but the regular forum sometimes I only hit every other day pending on the schedule. But as dB said, it make it nice for me as I use them for reminders and can just scroll through and it tells me if Ive been to the thread allready and replied, so no wasted time. If it doesnt look like it needs my attention I just hit delete.
