Yup, its always kool to influance the children. As long as it is in a good way.

Congrats from me as well. Kids are the greatest thing, most of the time. Except when they get suspended from school.

Yes, Congradulations! Awsome responsibility to assume.

I've avoided this one for a bit, as I am currently working with a lot of folks that create children and don't parent. This makes the whole endevor of raising a child even more terrifying. They are creating "drips off the ol ses-pool". The children start showing up in social settings at the age of 14 or so. Mad at the world, self proclaimed victoms, well trained in welfare, sex, and drugs. They are fluent in most four letter explicitives, and are convinced that they are mature beyond their age. My children will no doubt have to finish raising them and keeping them long after I'm gone.

Good luck my friend, yours is a formatable challange.

Ya, I see where Walt is coming from, tho I have no intention of turning this into a downer thread, cuz it is a very joyous occassion to have a child, 99% of the time it's the greatest. But so many people do have children that have no business doing it.

Give it your all musico, and it will be a phenominal experience...and it's amazing what simple facts of life a 5 year old kid can teach you that we just look right beyond. Young, innocent, unclouded eyes see things in such a beautifully simple way.

Ya, Db, sorry about the downer flavor.

Yesterday I was 50. Having a little trouble with that. Time to make changes again.

Small humans are amazing creatures. Huge unassuming spunges. And yes, they can cut to the chase and find the simple root of things in a heart beat. Wonderfull to learn from!

thanks again. well, walt i definitely see where you're coming from and agree with you. in my generation, i am the oldest male and 3rd oldest overall out of about 10 (sister/cousins my age, etc.) and i'm the last one to have kids. of course i'm the first one to be married, own a home, and have a business with education to fall back on. my ducks are in a row. Even though this makes for a perfect time to have children it won't make me a great father. there are too many people that rely on Barney to raise their children. toddler crying? put on a disney movie and walk way. that's not being a parent.

i feel that i have a good understanding of what makes a great parent and i intend to do my best to be one.

Thank God, El Musico!

Please forgive me if I did put a down spin on the occasion. I seriously doubt that I could, I know I am not that important. It is a joyous occasion, and a truely awsome privledge to be entrusted with parenting a human being. The ultimate expression of faith in a human.

You made my day! I see the other side.

Congrats on the 50 Walt. And the world just needs parents who are there for their kids. I know some parents look at the way I raised my last two boyz and wonder what the hell I am thinking? I look at their kids who dont really know who or what their parents are, (although both boys have friends with great parents) and want to aks them if they have ever sat down and listened to their music with them, watched their TV shows with them, or played their video games with them. And have they ever given them a chance to absorb any of the things I like without forcing it down their throats.

I am sure El musico will do things the right way, as will many parents to come. So again, congrats on the news, and start saving the music of today, so theyll know what was goin on in the world they were brought into.
