"on the nature of human action"
by Uncle Dude

take action, my friends.
life is like a house of cards;
you gotta keep addin' em.
be active.
don't let him pass you by.

just as a fire needs fuel to burn,
a car needs gas;
so does results requires efforts.
like that time you were walking with the christ on the beach.

he said he carried you.
but maybe you should of carried him.
cuz that's action.
action is the mandate of the commonwealth.

i believe in a politics where everyone gives it their best shot.
imagine a world without action;
you can't just eat at buffets like this guy all day!
cuz who will take care of america?

in conclusion,
booths is the enemy.
no one ever had a idea, sittin' in a booths.

we try to make people laugh AT us. hence the grammatical mistakes and the musical errors. our ethic is that we use the first ideas we come up with as long as they fit, and if we make mistakes, so be it.

UM, OK, that was differant. I cant say it sucked, but I think I need to listen a bit more to see if there is some hidden meaning about in there. But over all, it was good, not bad at all. AFter seeing your post about uncle dude I wasnt sure what to expect. Caught me by surprise it did indeed. Nice work though non the less.

dude thanks so much for listening. it might be hard to get the aesthetic of the band without seeing a live show. but UD contains no hidden meaning. he's just this weird guy.

UD is all the things you cannot believe in and still be 'cool.' nevertheless, some people think it's a serious band, which creates a weird dynamic where one half of the audience is laughing and the other half just thinks we really suck and dont know that we suck.

that music was recorded on the fly--that is the first draft compositional process right there. one of the rules of the band is that no song, musically, can take more than 5 minutes to write.

thanks for listening.

Now that you say that, I think I gotta go download it and play it for a few friends. I wanna see the reaction on their faces. I will let you know what happens. I like the 5 minute theory though, I wish I could be that fast.

The fat one always watches us.

its sunday morning, i had to come to work, and what is my first choice to not work...listen to some things here at hrc. and what do i click on....you guessed it uncle dude. that was odd.
made me think of something that has sat in my mind for years, an edgar allen poe poem.

filled with mingled cream and amber,
i will drain that glass again
such hilarious visions clamber,
through chambers of my brain.
quaintest thoughts, queerist fantisies
come to life and fade away
but what care i how time advances
for i am drinking ale... today.

not sure what the connection is, but half way through the dissertation on action, the words to poe came to me. didnt even know they were still in there.
is there mind control stuff in uncle dude?
maybe its a cure for alzimhers........
I thought it was good, id love to see the look on peoples faces.
and i dont think it sucks, by definition you guys are just having fun and trying to suck, but since you achieve your goal, youre not sucking cause you were trying to suck, well, now that i think about it ... if you were trying to suck, and you didnt suck, then you suck because you really didnt meet your goal of sucking.

thanks for listening, tonyd. i'm not sure about the poe connection. but i do think that i like it.

in most cases, we absolutely suck. but this is the first time that the urge to do a song hit us while we were near some actual musical equipment. in contrast, our live shows are done with just a casio keyboard run through an overdriven amp and a drum set. for our first EP, things were even worse. that EP was recorded in a friend's basement through the built-in computer mic (over in the other room, behind a set of french doors) while we played in the basement on an acoustic kit, the casio *without an amp--just the built-in speakers* and no microphone for uncle dude. he just had to scream his head off. the EP is entirely unlistenable in every way. people cover their ears and swear when they hear it. especially if you turn it up. the high end on that recording is unbearable.

thanks for the listen
