Nov 20, 2003 11:41 am this is interesting. So now the question is how do we utilize this technology for the betterment of humankind. eh?
Nov 20, 2003 02:56 pm FLAC's kinda fallen behind on the compression ratio/efficiency bit over the years.
I prefer MonkeysAudio (APE) at this point.

Nov 20, 2003 03:10 pm Waldo, half the reason I posted this one was cuz I knew it would attract your attention and you would give an alternative I heard about a while ago and forgot the name...and you did :-)

Nov 20, 2003 09:45 pm I believe these guys are picking up were others have left off. There are improvements being made to the flac encoding to make it more viable. Right now I believe there are only a few home players as well as car players capable of decoding it but I read there is a new push for this format to start being used in newer compressed file players.
Nov 22, 2003 04:00 pm FLAC is ancient ;) It's been picked up by Vorbis just recently though, and they are working on it. There's dozens of others that are way ahead of them though.
Even Windows Media has their own lossless compression now...
