Ya, I am guessing we all have things we did at 14 years old we would prefer being left alone...

As much as I have to say I'd love to hear it just out of curiosity more than anything, I totally respect your feelings and will just shut the hell up.

I apologize for me sounding like a jerk and completely understand your curiousity. In fact if I could, I'd put a copy of it up on the hidden audio page becuase it IS hidden. However, I became so revolted with what I did, I destroyed every copy I ever had left of it. Now you could probably dl it from Kazaa, but I think it was ordered to be removed from the web. At the height of the problem, there had been over 20,000 downloads online, however, 6 months ago I checked for it and found maybe 3, so go look for it if your lucky you may find it. I do not discourage you from listening either, it still is a song that I made. Just for obvious reasons I choose not to showcase it on the site. Thanks for being kind about things anyway ;)

Derek, if you truly are a "serious musician" now (and I am not passing judgement either way), I will give you some serious advice. What you need to work on, moreso than songwriting is mixing.

One thing I notice is that when you come around here it's pretty much only for critiques, never with questions or anything...which is fine, don't get me wrong, but, your mixing often sounds like you make each instrument sound good by itself, but put little to no effort into making them sound good together (they ARE different) so the mix sounds very messy with everything in each other sonic space. You need to carve out space in the spectrum for each instrument to shine. blueninjastar wrote a phenominal article about that very subject in our tips section, maybe you should give it a read...the music itself is fine, it's music, it's all good...you need to concentrate on present it.

In my opinion...

i guess its just kind of because ive never officially studied anything. I have pirated software a 50$ mixer and i just draw heavily on my influences so I kind of grasp WHERE to put the instruments and how to make them sounds, but your right until i read blueninjas article i do not understand how to work them as a whole. i guess that is my next challenge...

Well, you can be a serious musician and have no clue how to mix... You just hire someone to do it for you, like plenty of other pro musicians do. If you want to pursue production, though, that's a whole different thing-- And if you don't have the money to pay someone else you're stuck learning some of it anyways :)

Well, if you actually purchase the software (which you SHOULD do) you get manuals that have tons of useful information in them that would help tremendously as well.

Yes ideed, if the day comes where you get to the flagship DAWS like Soanr 3. You will definately need the manuals. Unless you have a n extreme understanding of the product. I have used Cakewalks stuff for years and still need to open the manula for the newer versions.
