edirol pcr50 midi keyboard

can anybody help me, i have a yamaha sw1000 and i can get on/bd sound thru midi con, edirol say for midi control the USB lead neads to be used but when i sellect it in software outputs i cannot access the sw1000 sounds,is it possible to route the midi to sw1000 thru USB? and has i have plenty of good vsti do the sw1000 sound stand up or am i just loyal.silly me dont know if USB gets VSTi please help,jim
