i know you have that velvet underground loaded 2cd set. on the demo cd, "train comin' round the bend" and "sweet nothing" have the same strange beginning sound. is that an organ with some weird distortion or what? i love that sound and would like to try to duplicate it. what do you think it is. i ask you cause i'm pretty sure you're the only guy here with the album.

Jul 27, 2003 02:13 pm id say its a guitar with some kinda tremolo or somthing on it. if youve got cubase, theres something called 'chopper' that will do that kinda thing.#
maybe its an organ and a guitar? its a mad noise...if you can get a clear shot of it you could just sample it...although obviously that would constitute a copyright violation : )

Jul 27, 2003 02:16 pm actually, listening to 'train...' now, i hear a fairly standard electric piano noise with the guitar chopped to replicate what the keys are doing...interesting technique.
if jues has heard it, he's bound to know - probably a bit too obscure though...

Jul 27, 2003 09:50 pm ya i think it's an organ because if you listen to "I love you" on the demo disc it sounds similar, but not with the heavy distortion. i'm still a fan of that demo disc over the studio one.
