im bidding on a yamaha drum machine on ebay and its got 'PCM TONE GENERATOR' on it..whats that?

Jun 29, 2003 06:36 pm PCM stands for Pulse Code Modulation, and is simply a digital waveform. Nearly all the wav files you deal with on your computer have PCM encoding.
This basically means that the drum machine has sampled sounds in it that will be used for playback :)
