i'm looking for a good guitar effects processor but i don't need all the features that the new ones offer today. i don't need a sampler, drum machine, amp modeler or an 8 track recorder built in... i use the POD Pro as a preamp and love the clean and distortion tones i get, but i want to dabble in the effects arena without using a noisey stomp box or paying out the rear for features i will never use... any suggestions?

Jun 19, 2003 02:21 pm I think digitech makes some good multi-effects pedals without too much extra junk... I guess that's all the advice I have.

Jun 20, 2003 09:41 am I'm a big digitech fan myself , from stop boxes to whole rack units.

Jun 20, 2003 09:43 am but come to think of it , the Pod does most if not all the effects , a # of muti-effects prossesors do .

Jun 20, 2003 05:05 pm actually it doesn't do EVERYTHING.... not many filters or modulation effects other than flangers/tremolo/distortion blah blah.. i would like stuff like appregiators and stuf that will just twist the hell out of the signal.. i've even looked into MIDI pickups but that's a different story all together.
what i'm looking at now are the line6 studio modelers like ECHO Pro, MOD Pro, and the FILTER Pro... but i'm not sure how i would control everything. i'd like to have just one floor board to do this. any ideas?

Jun 20, 2003 05:09 pm i think the rule is that the more things that an effect pedal does, the worse it does each of them. i recently returned a line6 delay pedal after a couple weeks in favor of a carl martin delay. the difference in quality is astounding, although the line6 did about a billion more things. i'm happier with the carl martin.
also, stomp boxes don't seem all too noisy if you're just doing one at a time in a studio session and if they're halfway decent pedals.
just some input on non-expensive multi-fx units.

Jun 21, 2003 05:17 am there are a few choises to look at , the line 6 prossesors as you said , are good I've seen em in a few studio's I know for a fact that Everclear uses them . about controlling them well, you would have to pick up a line 6 floor board , or just do it by hand . I have a Digitech Studio 400 , it has a tone of effects , and I use it for more than just guitar . I also use a POD , and a few stomp boxes for distortions that I can't make with the POD . The studio 400 might be over kill , you may look inot the smaller effects like the Quad 4 by digitech or a few otehr muti effects units . I personally do like the all in one floor prssesors , but that's me , my friend loves his Boss effects pedal . I'd say look around and check out what everything has and see what works best for you . Boss, and digitech have a lot of info on there web sites .

Jun 21, 2003 09:08 am Yeah, our guitarist has the Mod and Echo Pro Rack Units - they simply daisy chain via midi, he then controlls it all using a MIDI footswich pedal to select which bank he want to use.
