Hey folks, recorded a new verse today, as an online friend from Chile asked if I would get on a song with his crew. Problem is all my recording equipment and music computer are all packed away in storage. So, I used my laptop with Reaper, and used the embedded array mic in my laptop to record. Concurrently, I recorded the verse on my android phone. I was able to send the recording over the internets and get it into Reaper. Threw some eq/compression on the 2 tracks and adjusted volume on the 2 tracks to taste. I'm actually not too mad at how it came out, given the equipment I was using.
The verse is below. The beat was sent from Chile. Now let's see if I can get soundcloud to work...

A buddy and I were just discussing that topic earlier in the day, wondering when mobile will have the proper quality and power to start actually taking over full recording duties and thereby send desktops even closer to the junk pile.
Looks like that time may be closer than I thought.

Dec 30, 2013 04:05 pm I wonder if eventually you will be able to plug a usb interface into your phone, and set up to record everything right in your phone/tablet. I doubt the phone mic will ever be good enough to get a really good sound, even if it will be possible to get something kind of passable now. Also I expect there will be some difficulties with high volume recording like amps and such.
Dec 30, 2013 07:54 pm Good link, BH, I get pretty regular emails from IK as well as a few others, I think Garage Band has a tablet capable version, don't they? There are a few others as well...this will become an emerging market in coming months I suspect as processing power increases in such devices.

Dec 31, 2013 11:40 am Ya, apparently Garageband has made a number of improvements. I think they are a leader but Cubase is also up to something as well.
