Punk/Indie mix feedback... thanks!

I'm still finishing up tracking a friends band but have started to work on some mixing to get a head start on it. I did an initial mix a few days ago (you can hear it on my soundcloud below) but have since done a few revisions, with mix 4 below being the latest.

The snare is something I've been battling since the start of tracking. The drummer's snare simply didn't sound great and I tried every trick in the book to get it to sound better but it inevitably just sounded like him hitting a wet book or something awful. I did drop in a Steven Slate drum sample for the snare to bring up under the recorded track to try to give it more of a snare snap/sound to it but at the same time I'm weary of fully replacing it as I still want it to sound authentic. New mix:

I also lined up the lead/harmony vocal in a few spots where it was slightly off and think it sounds tighter from it. Other changes... brought the vocals down a db or two overall to make them sit a bit better, did some automation for the tom volumes on a few hits to make them stand out better in the mix, and then brought the bass gtr up a db and a half to make it a bit more present but not too overbearing hopefully.

1. Does the snare sound too fake now? If so, any suggestions to making it sit/blend better?

2. Is bass too loud? I might bring it back down a tad overall but just automate it up in a few sections.

3. Thoughts on the delayed effect to close the song? I was just messing with some settings and thought it would be a cool bridge between this and the next song on the record.

Thanks in advance for the advice/help!

I liked the mix, the snare did seem a bit too present, as for bass, well, I am listneing on a laptop, so I can't accurately assess that. The vox seemed to sit OK, I liked the subtle harmonies coming in at times.

Again though, laptop speakers, I'll try to give it a listen on my monitors later.

I would personally bring the bass down just a tad. But even if you left it, it's not a deal breaker.

The drums sound rad, except the snare. So this is WITH the sample? It still sounds pretty weak imo. I would go with a lower tuning on my sample, give it a lot more body. It has plenty of crack but no body. If it were like a scooped death metal mix, that snare would be perfect. But in this mix I think it needs a beef-boost.

And the effect at the end is cool. :)

Good job! Your mixes are always solid.

did a few changes over the last couple of days... here's the new mix: https://soundcloud.com/nocontrolstudios/12-mix-5

I messed around with the snare a bit, changed the reverb I had on it to make it less distant gun shot sounding and more up front of a sound, also brought the snare down a few db to make it sit better with everything. Bass is down a tad, vocals down a bit and the overheads up just a hair as I felt they were a tiny bit too quiet.
