I'm excited, haven't done the live sound thing for a show in a long time, get to stand in for a local country rock band tonight as their engineer, leaving before too darn long...going to be fun.

It's nice now wit the girls getting older and being a little more independent, old hobbies are starting to show back up in life...started biking again, started brewing beer again, started writing and recording again, now maybe if I do good tonight I'll get called on to do it a little more often...while still getting to enjoy watching my kids do what they have grown to love doing...

Life is good, brothas!

It went well, minimal crowd due to it being like a billion degrees below zero...but it was fun, a few funny drunks out there for a bit, had to stand in front of the board a couple times to prevent drunks from falling into it while dancing with their ladies and whatnot...

Overall, good band, good sounding room, pretty easy to mix other than the lead guitarist whose own effects adjusted the overall volume too much sometimes that I had to compensate for...

Lotta fun though...and very nice mellow gig with nice gear in a nice room to kinda cut my teeth on again after so many years out of the racket.

AWESOME! :)

I always hated the drunks that hung around the board. They tend to spill their beers, and ask stupid questions. But, part of the job.

Glad you had a good time, and I hope that you can do it again.

Thanks, Rob, I really like running the board, always have enjoyed it, just never did get into the industry more, I should have.

I thought of you at one point...I'm standing behind the console and a group of 10-12 drunken kids come in with one older dude with 'em...the kids start dancing (the one's I thought might fall back on the board)...then out of the corner of my eye I see the older dude walking toward me and I thought "yep, here we go, the moment's Rob talks about where he's gonna tell me I should turn something up or down"...turns out he was the limo driver for the drunken kids and really like the band, wondering how he could hire them for a company party his employer throws every spring...kinda cool.

Sounds like a good time dB! :) I've never run sound for a band personally, but I know what you mean about old hobbies. My son just turned 10 this year, and I'm rekindling my old flame for music. I was considering a restart last year before the fire consolidated my gear into one smoking heap, and the extra motivation from the fire has brought me back to my roots, with better gear this time!

Santa got the little rugrat a Rocksmith game with an Epiphone this year. He's been learning basic picking on his own, with the game. Last night my son my son snuck into the room with his new guitar while all us grownups were all jamming with heads down. That was just neat. We're not the Jacksons, and I'm not even a working musician, but it's nice to know that music is a vibrant presence and influence in his life. I'm keeping a channel on my headphone amp open for him... heh heh heh

That's awesome db. Glad it went well. If there were people dancing, then they were probably having a good time.

TCB, that is also awesome! I always think the best gifts you can give someone are food and music. Ha ha.
