Taking 4 audio channels into a PC for recording

I have spent the better part of a morning trying to find an answer to this with no success. Perhaps I can find someone here who can help.

I have a 16-track mixer with 4 busses. I would like to patch these 4 busses into a PC but cannot seem to find any decent soundcards that will accept four audio inputs (1/4" mono plugs). The only one(s) I can find is the M-Audio 44/66 cards, which apparently aren't really available anymore and even if they were, they seem to have issues.

The application is live band recording, as opposed to studio-like recording.

Any ideas?

Dave

Look for USB or FW interfaces -- You're probably not going to find a PCI with 4 I/O (although it's easy to find USB/FW with 8 or more).

M-Audio has some decent 4 I/O interfaces with good performance and low latency...and for a decent price...they've always been up the list of good consumer level audio interfaces.

I have a USB interface but it only takes two 1/4" inputs (Tascam 144 mkii). I need something with two more but haven't been able to find one.

As I mentioned, I saw the M-Audio products but the reviews were pretty consistent regarding the interference (pops and crackles) folks were seeing. That has me concerned.

www.homerecordingconnecti...udio+Interfaces

There are plenty available...apologies for not reading the entire first post.

I used M Audio for a long time, as did a friend, using Delta 44, for years without hickup...so it could be known chipset conflicts...when buying high performance audio interfaces, be sure to research (as it seems you know) for known issues with obscure chipsets, operating systems or other components.

M-Audio has long seemed to me as one of the more stable, based strictly on personal experience. I have also had amazing luck with ESI www.esi-audio.com/products/maya44/

Thanks for the info. These are the types of devices I was looking for. The Akai EIE I/O looks especially appealing. I'll look into them.
