Behringer XENYX 1204usb mixer

I have this hooked up to my computer via USB, and the only thing I have is a Yamaha keyboard running into it through the 1/4 jack in/out. I'm using Adobe Audition to record. But when I hit record, the levels show a hissing that is somewhat annoying. There's no mics being used, so this is something electronic.

Anyone have an idea what this could be?

Can you tell if it is from the keyboard or from the mixer?
Have you tried to record with the keyboard not plugged in to the mixer and see if you still get the hiss?

I'm not sure how to record without the mixer unit, that's why I got it. I can't know if it's coming from the keyboard or mixer, but I do know if I run the keyboard through the mixer I don't get any hiss at all. It's only when I start recording that it immediately starts.

Hmm, it sounds like it might be something in your computer then. If you unplug the mixer and record nothing, do you get that same hiss?

If it's your computer, it could be picking up your fan, it could be the usb connection, it could be any number of things. I'm not sure what to tell you.
