2 String Power Chords or 5ths

When creating riffs for rythm guitar, I use power chords or 5ths mostly because I like the distortion and metal music. But if I follow the major-minor-minor-major-major chord progressions etc. on two strings, how am I suppose to make a minor chord using power chords when I have to flat the 3rd? Can you make power minor chords? I know its a silly question but I'm struggling with progresions...lol

yeah mate cant really, you can buy a 7 string i guess.

another way is use your pwr chords a bit more dynamicaly.
pick when you wanna use them in a song instead of all the time so it doesnt thin out when you do.
As long as you got a good bass guitar sound in you songs doesnt matter too much anyway.
its a nice change tho in a song if its got alot of power chords then goes to just a 5th or with the 3rd string muted.

is that what youre refering to when you say flat the 3rd? coz you can make a chord out of a root 5 by using the 4th (from the fat) string instead of the 3rd, then you mute the 3rd with you index finger while playing it.

You cant play a minor 5th. The minor comes from thirds. If you reverse a power chord thats a minor third. What I mean by reversed power chord is instead of the higher string 2 frets up from the lower string you put it 2 frets down. Lots of songs do that, so you could try and implement that into your song.

@quickxkid Thank you! Reversing a 5th indeed gave me a minor 3rd power chord using two strings. My power chord progression spectrum just became a whole lot wider allowing me many more places to go! Again, thank you!

@Dematrix I went to your Myspace. I turned on your music. It hit me like a tornado!! It blew me back and out of my chair plum down on the ground where I battled with all my might, red faced, straining, veins popping, to just muster enough to lift my head looking back at the screen in SHOCK and AW at the power I had just witnessed!! Power! Pure...Raw...Power...<--- I said period boy!! You guys rock out!! wooooo!! \m/
