Never heard of that particular card, if it has 4 analog ins (presumably 2 stereo pairs) then the very least you could do is set one track in Sonar to a stereo track, then when recording pan one input hard left and the other hard right, then export the track as two seperate files.

it's not the best way to do it, but no knowing the exact card I am using a "catch all" typ[e of solution. If it can't seperate the 4 ins then it can't be a very good card,m that is pretty basic...is it the card that came with your PC?

really? hmmmmmm, I may have found it online, is this it:

www.emu.com/products/aps/aps.html

if so, those inputs should be totally able to separate...are you assigning them properly in Sonar. Noize2u is our resident Sonar expert around here, maybe he can chime in later tonight and help you out.

yes that is the one. in sonar i can' only chose "LEFT APS In, RIGHT APS In, and STEREO APS In" as the input of a audio track. And acording to the Emu manual it says i set it up properly.

It is really just a 2 input/output card. You can consider it 4 if you can use the digital in/out at the same time. so you are looking at 2 channel's of input or output.

In Sonar, you have 2 choice's. YOu can arm the track to record and select, Stereo APS In, which will record the left and right, or channel 1 and 2 onto a singal track. It will still be in stereo even though it is on one track. Make sure your pan is centered.

The other option is to arm 2 track's to record. Pan one hard left and assign Left APS In to that track. Arm another track and pan it hard right, now assign Right APS In tothat track.

You will now be able to record 2 seperate vocal's, or guitar's or whatever you like to those track's at the same time. They will be a mono track and can them after recording, be panned to either left or right or center, whatever you like.

If you have any other question's feel free to post them here, and I will get back to you soon.

The front and back analog and digital input's are actually the same input channel's. If the salesman told you it had 4 input's he misled you. There are 4 input's, but they are linked together, they just put them up front as an option. They function as channel 1 and channel 2 together. So the front box is really just an extension of the card on the back.

ummm i think you might be wrong because i can plug my line 6 pod in the back 2 and two mics in the front and i can mix all the channels together in the "digital mixer" or i can mute the front two and only hear the guitar or i can mute the guitar and hear the mics...all while both are playing into the card. sorry if this dosn't make sense. and you can put a diferent effect on each input....like reverb on one, chours on another, delay on the third, and compression on the forth......i'm still confused

Yes, you can plug all them in. But the software only recognize's 2 channel's because it is only 2 channel's. Left APS and Right APS. Yes you can have all the input's running at the same time, but they will still only go to Left APS and Right APS. Which means it is only 2 channel's, not 4.

Creative did the same thing with their rig simaler to your's. It appear's as 4 input's but it is really only 2 channel's.

Here is a quick comparison. I have 60 input's for audio on my mixer's. I only have 6 channel's of audio interface input. So what this mean's is that even if I plug in 60 differant audio source's to my mixer, I still can only record to 6 track's at once, because I only have 6 channel's of audio input.

So hopefully you understand why you can only record to 2 track's at a time now.
