I'm a newby here - I'm more old school commercial music oriented.

Just checking out everyone's music here at HRC. I have uploaded my latest creation. However, I'm currently auditioning vocalist's for the song - Sailing High. My vox are not that good - I'm looking for someone to do the song justice. If anyone here is interested - go to www.customaudioproductions.com/auditions and put your vocal track to the song.

The song is also in my profile music.

Thanx - Audiowriter

If nobody is interested in laying down a vocal track, what do you think about the song itself?

I have a feeling no one can take it seriously from looking at the web page. I can't stay on it long enough to start reading it, much less start looking for links.

You know what? You misspelled "Margarita." The lyrics, frankly, are trite and cliched ("sail the 7 seas"? C'mon). I'll take a crack at adding some new words and melody to the tune when I get a chance. The fellers above are right about the page. Way too flashy. The song itself is okay--your vocal actually seems to fit in there pretty well.

Iknow, I know - the lyrics are completely cheesy. I'm looking to push the song toward a commercial client. Any and all critiques / improvements are appreciated.

My vox fit the flow but my tone and key flux too much. (I'm not very practiced or seasoned with my vocal instrument!) Plus, I had a sinus infection when I recorded that take - I may re-do my vox when I feel better - (Just so I have an "in key" version of my vox on it.).

My spelling is usually right...

I do my own html - and some more modern browsers do not display total html correctly.
I have attempted to convert to css - let me know if anyone is still having problems.

Much better on the page layout there. If you haven't already, and want to brush up and refine your web design skills, go take a look at the info and references over on www.w3schools.com There's some pretty good tutorials and quiz-type stuff too.

Some of us around here, (dB for sure) are IT guys and web developers as well as musicians, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)

I'm definitely not a vocal guy, so I won't try to audition. If you wanted any comments on the mix itself, it sounds pretty balanced to me, and everything is clear and present. Didn't hear any muddiness or anything negative on the mix angle. I think you definitely nailed the 80's era type of sound. (from what I can remember it sounding like anyway, I was just a kid back then heh.)

On the lyrics (mind you I'm not really a lyricist either, and I think everything in that area is subjective) If it's some sort of imagery of freedom and getting away from it all, maybe focus on those aspects? The wind in your hair, the spray of the sea in your face....stuff like that? You know, involve the listener's senses. Let em feel like they're jiving right there, on the sea. It doesn't have to be really complex or anything, but a little bit of that imagery can really go a long way. :)

That's all I got, and good luck with it. :)

Thanx J-Bot. And yes, I was trying to convey a "feeling" of being free and on the ocean with the lyrics. I need the lyrics to be all age friendly (mainly couples) and enticing toward boating / sailing.
I'll work on it.
