Okay, so I've been thinking heavily on this for awhile now, and I've created a Pricing/commissions page on my site.

bytemixsound.net/commissions

The concept is for writing music, or creating custom music for some project, the fees scale to the complexity of the project, and, of course, are negotiable.

For mixing work, the fees are a flat rate per minute of audio, with discounts for working on multiple tracks.

Feel free to check the page, and send me some feedback on the pricing scheme. Of course, fees will be flexible/negotiable to fit the budget of the client or artist. I honestly don't know what a good price is for my level of ability. I figure $50 base with $5 to $10/minute audio for less complex projects is a good start.

I honestly don't know if this will take off or not. I may try cleaning up the page and adding like a bullet list for the main info.

So yeah. Here's to hope I guess xD I will probably take the page back down after getting some feedback until I get a more complete idea, such as file transfers, where/how to securely store and transfer files for reviewing and such. I figure mailing CDs for doing the mix work is good, and for posting stuff for review, I can lock down the file on sound cloud to a specific e-mail address so only the client/artist has access to it.

Of course, I'm always open to suggestions =]

Thanks dB :) I have a book on the business aspects of the music business written by some music business lawyer (Donald S. Passman) that's pretty informative. I'll need to dig into it some more at some point. But right now, I'm trying to keep it on a small scale kinda like some visual artists and graphic designers do.

Also, I've made a first batch of business cards myself, and been leaving them random places (restaurants, folks I run into that have a piqued interest, etc.)

I'd just edit the post normally, but I wanted to bump it, and see if I can get some feedback on the prices I listed.

Also, I updated the page again so prices are in a bulleted list now for easier comprehension. :)
