Hi guys,

Thought I'd share with you my latest effort!

Once again, this is an acoustic cover, and I'd really like to know what you think about the mix, as my ears are becoming "tired" of the song.

Thanks in advance,
JP

The guitar sounds a bit muddy, I'd cut the lows just until it sounds too thin, then roll them back in a tad. It's swallowing up the kick.

The vocals sound crystal clear tho. Good job :)

second on the vocals, great clarity and body.

Not mix related, but the guitar sounds just slightly out of tune. That isnt a kick is it either, cajon?

Mix wise, everythings ok just seems a bit tame, backing vocals could be blended a bit better, some EQ to have them circle the lead so u could bring them up instead of backing them off so far. Personally I'd bring up teh guitar a tad, just coz its the vocal, while great, sounds kind of unsupported, like its the singer standing way out infront.

Thanks for taking the time to listen, it really means a lot to me! By the way, good guess on the cajun.

About the new version, I went back and re-did the bvs, and tried to make the bass more present in the mix.

Any thoughts?

sounds way more full, guitars r right there with the vocals, much more exciting.

after the little cajon intro though, it sounds so nice that I feel like if it was me, id compress it a bit more, maybe parallel even, just to keep its finer details in the forefront when the music comes in.

Thanks for the quick input, crux! I have the same feeling, the cajon gets a bit overwhelmed by all the other instruments, specially the bass.

I'm going to try and compress it a bit more, and see how it turns out.

Vox sound really good. I love the clarity. Sounds like the acoustic needs to have the low end rolled off to me. The low end needs more definition imo. Try to notch out the lower frequencies and give it a chance to breathe.

@ Beerhunter: Thanks for the feedback! About the acoustic, I also feel the same, however when I try a high-pass filter the sound turns really thin and telephone-like. Maybe I'm cutting too high?
