I have a Simmons electronic drumset, and I am wondering if I can use a Roland head unit. The reason is that for some reason while I am recording the snare is VERY quiet. I use EZDrummer as a VST and use Sonar Home Studio V. 7

cant you just shove the quite snare thru a limiter to get it louder?
just use the input to increase the vol, or depending on what program you use you could just up the vol in the midi map. (velocity)

sounds like ya have a bad trigger (pad)....even worse, the harder you hit it, the worse it'll get....is there a sensitivity knob on it anywhere? otherwise you'll be best off just replacing the single pad.

ah yeah ok, yeah man i have the same hassel with mine here.
if youve already messe witht he sensitivity knob then pull the sucker apart and clean all the **** outta/off the sensor and/or pad in there, even the jack ports etc get crap in em.

failing that i dunno, as WYD says might just be a stuffed trigger, but i have pulled em apart and im not sure you can kill them, they are usually just bit of plastic with a metall strip running thru it.
