sounds really good to me mate. Good song too.
I would say yer on the right track for sure man.

What youve got there sounds good to my ears, i guess now you just have to listen, and work out what you think "you" would like to sound better mix wise.
Maybe notching out few dB of an eq here or there to get what your ears want to hear.

One good thing to try is, maybe google "instrument frequencies" or something along those lines, and figure out what are their standout frequencies and go from there.

eg; kick drum: 300hz freq, too much can lead to a muddy sound as is with alot of things.

There's always something you wished you couldve done better when tracking, i think thats where it starts.
unfortunatley ya only work these things out after youve heard the song a few times.
Keep it up mate sounds good.

I haven't had a chance to listen because I only have crappy ear buds here at work. However what Demantrix is referring to is "Fundamental Frequencies" and there is a bit of info as well as a good chart on my blog page. You will have to dig around to find it though as I don't have time to look up the link to the blog itself but it is in there somewhere.

thanks dematrix for the kind words about the song and the info regarding instrument freqs. i also found the chart on beerhunters blog to be helpfull. i have been having a hard time with the lower frequencies. this whole process is harder than i thought it would be. but its sure cool when an idea in your head starts to come together piece by piece. i just need to keep workin on how it sounds coming out of the monitors.

I really like the song, It kept me hanging in there until the end . I think because the song has so much to say that a bit more clarity on the vocals would have been a plus. I'll listen again later through monitors to see if it make a big difference. Thumbs up.

Really good song writing and overall I think the mix sounds very good. I think Dematrix summed it up pretty well as far as things to try.

A good part of it is a matter of experimenting with EQ cutting/boosting frequencies on an instrument and seeing if it's an improvement or not in the overall mix.

Yes, I really like this song. Two things I would try on the vocals are using a little bit less reverb and cutting some of the low frequencies below 100hz a bit. Nice job overall though.

thanks for taking the time to listen and for the compliments on my tune. i do need to work on using less effects on my vocals, thats just my way of trying to hide my bad singing. im working on the frequencie issue's. man theres alot to learn in that area. i wonder if the over lapping of freq's and some lack of clarity comes from the overall tone. im doing the one man band thing and most of your tone comes from your fingers. so when you play every instrument, perform the vocals, then mix the song, you pretty much put your stamp all over it. seems like you might lose some of the texture you get when there are more musicians on a tune. you guys have any thoughts on that. im not trying to side step the fact i havent aquired any skills or knowledge. im just sayin

The singing is not bad. I don't hear any obvious pitch issues, and the style is honest. So you don't need to hide the vocals.

What "old gear" are you using? Sounds great. To improve it I would guess you'd need to have a look at the equipment list and go for the weakest link improving your gear.Strong song. Strong vocalist.
