We are making a language learning cd. English and Japanese in each track. Should we use the same mic and use one channel.
Or should we have each person record separately so it is easier to alter each persons voice or mix it.
Also if I use mixcraft for example to record the tracks. Is it better to save in the mixcraft format for an engineer to master it or will wav or other format be ok?
- If my engineer uses Adobe audition should I use that too, so when I send him the files he can change the levels better?

Thanks

Feb 02, 2011 05:54 am Personally, I would record each person on a separate track. It'll be easier to adjust any settings you may need to make and also you wouldn't have to have both of them there at the same time to do the whole thing. Plus it should be easier to space it out better.
Sorry, I can't answer the second part as I only use one DAW and not sure of the common formats.

We will test it on 1 track and separate and see how we go.
Thanks

Feb 02, 2011 06:39 am there won't be much mixing involved i assume, if its for instruction and its just pure voices. U should seperate definitely to make it easier to edit to ur needs later. even have different sentences on different takes and such.
u dont have to use the same program as ur engineer, u jus thave to send it out as the same format (WAV, AIFF etc) at watever sample rates and bits ur engineer wants.
