m-audio microtrack II recording help

I just bought 2 audio technica at2035, so I can get draft recordings for my band(acoustics, drum and piano, pop/ballad style). I'm using a yamaha MG16/4 mixer and m-audio DMP3 preamp(just bought it), I also tried recording directly from my korg pa500 w/ BBE 882i to my microtrack II with no success at all(too much noise on the recording) What I'm doing wrong, or should I just go a buy a new tascam DR100 or a Zoom R24 or maybe just get a better preamp/mic combination. I also have a maxie onyx 1640i which didn't use because it's too heavy.
