Know a cool old school robot effect for vox?

I would imagine most DAWs have this standard (similar to a telephone effect in the EQ pre-sets) but I havent had any luck finding one. I'm not looking for the T-Pain autotune computerized effect - I'm looking for that old school robot.

I record mainly in Digital Performer but have the where with all to record or mix in Pro Tools 8 and Logic 9 as well.

Anyone know of a plug-in (after market or w/in any of these systems) that I should be looking for? Thanks.

there is a little free program called "s h i t talker" that will enunciate what you tell it to... and it sounds like what Steven Hawking's voice machine sounds like... do you have an example of what old school robot sounds like, as I'm not sure I know what you mean.

many ppl mistakenly refer to T-Pains effect as a vocoder, its not, its an Autotune on max, the old school effect im presuming is however a vocoder (pretty much all extreme vocal effects pre T-Pain r vocoder)

u can find free vocoder plugs on KVRaudio, some r better than others, try to taste
