Sony Acid/Vista 64-bit Recording Issues

Hey,
I'm not an expert with home recording - I've been recording in Sony Acid Music Studio and more recently Acid Pro and having issues of choppy/distorted audio during recording & playback. The actual recording is fine, but it does this while I'm trying to record, making it tough to hear the music. It seems it would do this every few minutes in the beginning. I would stop, unarm & rearm the track and get back to work. But it's became worse & worse, now happening every few seconds. Sometimes the audio goes out all together. It's getting really frustrating.
I thought it was because I am using Windows Vista 64-bit, but have been seeing that people don't have compatibility issues with it. I record using a Creative EMU 0404-Usb audio interface
I'm not sure what's causing this issue, if it's my computer, the interface, Acid or Vista... but would love any suggestions or advice.

Thank you

in the EMU's driver software there should be a way to increase "buffers" or "latency"....also within acid's audio options you should be able to find those settings (check both).

good luck, and welcome to HRC!

I'm using a Line 6 Pod Studio UX2 with Windows 7 64bit and I get a lot of cracks and snaps (loud and annoying) when recording and play back. It may have something to do with the USB and 64 bit OS. There are plenty of complaints on the Line 6 forums. Some people are getting around it with buying a USB input card that plugs into the board (www.tigerdirect.com/appli...Sku=S457-1080), and not part of the board itself. I've bought one and installed it but haven't tested it yet to see if it got rid of the unwanted noises. There are other people that were able to go into the BIOS and disable to stuff but I don't recall what they were. I'll have to check to see what the options were later since I'm at work at the moment.

i'm gonna guess the line 6 software is prolly running in 32 bit (program files x86)....again, check the driver first, then the recording software and increase buffers or latency. don't worry about anything in BIOS
