Hey I recently bought a Tascam MF-P01 and I have problems when it comes to tracking more than 1 track. I can record the initial track without issue, except there is intermittent noise like the sound of the guitar becomes more metallic and static sounding. When I try and dub a 2nd track over this, you can't even really hear the first track, bits and pieces once in awhile and noise in the background. The strange thing is when you play it back, though, everything sounds perfectly normal.
I'm using high bias tape, it is 90 minute tape but I really don't think that's the issue. Even the manual said 90 minute tape should work alright.

This, I'd guess, is a faulty cable. If the device is brand new. If it's used, then I'd also suspect the device / preamp / pots. If it IS used, then you can shoot some contact cleaner in the pots, and turn them back and forth all the way (not when it's on) to clean up the contacts inside the pot. Hopefully you can get some cleaner in there (in the pot casing).
For the not hear part Quote:
bits and pieces once in awhile this makes me think that the capability is there, for what you're trying to do, but the pots or contacts may be bad / dirty / etc. Again, cleaning them may clear this right up, but I'm not sure if it's new or not. I think they're discontinued, so I'm loosely assuming that the device is bought used.
hope this helps some, and welcome to the HRC.
