WORD:

I got PT.

I got the 003.

I need to sell the 003 and

I need an interface with this:

8 inputs, all with phantom power, XLR, TRS, RCA.

I need two outputs, left and right.

great AD conversion for low latency or no latency.

ready set go find me a link to one i can just click on add to cart for less than 5000$

Also it would be sweet if it had the control surface with it but i bet all you'll find is rack mounts. If this is the case does anybody know if i can use the 003 as the control surface but still use 8 input interface as my......well......interface?

you guys are awesome. thanks

Hey man, sounds like you've got a decent interface already, so let's consider upgrading what you have instead of ditching what you already know. Send your 003 rack off to Black Lion Audio and have it modded to your specs, this will be your best option considering your investment in the 003 already.

These guys are very well known and reputable, they'll upgrade your pre's and your clocks. What's not to love?

that sounds absolutely fantastic Quincysan.

But i don't understand. Don't get me wrong, I love my 003, but I absolutely need to be able to record 8 inputs from different sources on to seperate tracks simultaneously.

Can this black lion company do this. Can they physicaly install more inputs?

Oops, didn't realize the 003 only had 4 mic inputs. That's not necessarily a problem though. You'll still come in under your 5k budget if you complement those 4 pre-amps with an external unit using SPDIF connections. If I had the money to burn, I'd buy the API 3124.

That would be an a-game rig for sure.

i personally am a huge fan of apogee.
they have never done me wrong and their A/D converters are absolutely amazing and top of the line.

the producer who is working on my album uses this now,
he had a digi 96i/o
the whole HD setup
and has now converted to apogee.
there is a card you buy to make the apogee work, and all said and done its the same cost and one of the few amazing non digi products that will work in protools.

if i had the money, this is the way i would go lol

Although I got my *** handed to me the last time for suggesting this.. the MOTU 8pre is a great "multitrack" device with each input having its own dedicated dpad, 48w phantom, and preamp (not grouped like most USB multirecorders). The only caveat is that it MUST have a 1394a (firewire) card wth the TI chipset. LaCie makes a great card to work with it ($15). The MOTU itself is like $499. It comes with the software to control the input/ouput trims and panning, but not any actual "multitrack" software (like Sonar or acid pro). I love mine.... (music file in my profile was created using MOTU).

yeah just about anything with an ADAT output will allow you to send 8 discrete channels digitally into the 003 via the ADAT input (that means you still have all the inputs on the 003 ontop of that)...so just dig around for 8 channel A/D converters with pre's and ADAT output and yer gold....my presonus firepod can do that and it's under 500 bucks.
