Hello!
I'm a new member so I hope this is the right forum for this question.
I've recently bought a FireStudio Project recording interface. Is there any way I can rig up FireStudio's "FireControl" panel to apply reverb monitoring to a vocal track? One of the vocalist in our group is about to strangle me for this feature! ;-)
Thanks in advance,
Richard

Sounds like you've got a real Prima Donna on your hands. In my studio, I would tell the client "no". Adding reverb to a headphone mix is going to obscure his/her perception of how he/she is singing. If you give that feature to the vocalist, it's because the vocalist knows there's a problem with their voice and wants it to drown in reverb vs actually fixing the problem. That's what we call "stupid" in the common sense business (you probably agree, I'm just validating the piece of you that wants to tell this person to get over it, haha)
Honestly, you should convince this client that this is an undesirable feature. However if you tell me what your DAW is, I can give you the answer you were hoping for.

But really, even with my buffers at 64 there is a noticable latency when trying to monitor via software but I would not say it's unusable, what are your buffers set at? Anyway, if you want true monitoring with reverb/comp/eq you would be best running a motu (hardware based), line 6 (still software based but very low latency), or using fx sends through outboard gear.
Now, imo I have no problems adding a little comp/delay/verb while a singer is tracking to sweeten things a bit (yet recording dry). If it sucks afterwards then I retrack, whatever makes the singer comfy.
