Guitar recording through GarageBand...

Hello everyone,

I've recently switched from PC to a MacBookPro. Not for music recording, but for graphic designing purposes which is what i do for living...

I am a guitar & bass player as well and used PC/Cubase to record my songs amateurly... So far I liked to simplicity of Garageband because I only record guitars, basses and add drum loops&samples to create my songs.
On mac, I use the same setup I used to have on PC/Cubase situation. Guitar - M-Audio Mobile Pre USB sound card - computer and amp simulation effects on garageband. (which used to be amplitube on PC)

But at Garageband I have this great big buzzing and humming sound on the preset amp/effect simulations. It is not recognisable on clean sounds, but the ones with the drive on... It's insane!

I wanted to mic my real amps but i'm living in an apartment which causes some trouble. Is this in anyones experience? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

M.
