i am a hip hop recording artist using presonus audiobox usb running cubase le4 through my hp (windows 7) laptop. i have encountered problems with my VST audio system when im recording audio tracks there panned absolute left when i switch audio systems my output is sent through my computers sound card ultimately sending my output to my CPU's speakers. How can i record in stereo while keeping my audio sytem setup for my audiobox (headphones condenser mic MIDI in)??? I am stuck..

Jul 24, 2010 08:12 pm Vocals usually aren't recorded in stereo, only mono. If you have 2 mics, then you could record in stereo, but I wouldn't.
Anyway, I'd say that mono is your LEFT only, which is OK during the mixing stage. Only when you render, or play out from the master, should it be stereo. The panning in cubase will create the stereo spectrum, not the tracks themselves (unless the track SHOULD be stereo, like some keyboards).
So I think, if I'm reading your query correctly, that you should only record your vocals in MONO, not stereo. Let the stereo get created later during mixing, like it's supposed to.
Hopefully that helps, as I'm not quite sure if I got your question totally correct.
